About The Event
Featured artists: Ashley Speelman
Ashley Speelman, otherwise known as A.Rose. Grew up in the Dayton area and is currently living and working in Dayton. She is named after her great-grandmother Rose on her father’s side. Rose was an artist and used to teach art classes called “Something From Nothing”, which emphasized a waste-free lifestyle. The core of her practice derives from this ideology and carrying on her legacy. She also creates work based on memory, lived experiences and imaginative beings.She received my Associate of Arts Degree and Certificate of Drawing from Sinclair Community College. After college, she studied under Emilio Villalba in San Francisco, California and studio assisted for Zachary Armstrong and Mychaelyn Michalec.
